Halifax camshafts on PA474

Hi all,

In the book: Halifax, the Tirpitz raids, the recovery of Halifax W1048 is described among other things. Apparently when brought back to the U.K. some camshafts of the Merlin engines were tested and declared servicable and then fitted to Lancaster PA474(?).

Now, this is a story almost to good to be true, but can anyone confirm this to be true actually? If so are these camshafts still in use?
