To clariify Kingfisher status world wide, as mentioned previously here and also in the article in Classic Wings, eight substantial aircraft remain, 5 in USA, 1 in Chile, 1 in Cuba and 1 in Australia. Charles Nichols' project aircraft and the Whaleworld example are the only ones in private hands.
The Whaleworld Kingfisher (and Vengeance) are both listed by the Moveable Cultural Heritage Unit who enforce the 1986 act covering prohibited heritage exports. The bottom line is that the aircraft will not be granted an export permit under any circumstances, and if ever either of them was smuggled out, the authorities would prosecute through reciprocal enforcement channels.
Of course there is the one I mentioned earlier on Chuginadak Island however I think US Nat'l Parks & wildlife would prevent its removal and even if they gave approval, then I guess you'd have to deal with the US Navy. At least in the case of the Whaleworld aircraft, there is a good chance that if it goes to the right buyer in Australia, it will be restored to fly again.
Cheers for now,
GMO
