Salt Water - effect on airframes

Hi all,

There has been quite a few posts before on the topic of what happens to airframes, if they are immersed in salt water and the corrosive effect it has on them.

I was just wondering, I've seen some aircraft that have been recovered from salt water, - how do they stop the corrosion once it is re-exposed to air?

I have seen other posts about the effects of just leaving an aircraft untreated and how it ends up leaving them a powdery mess on the floor.

Any answers?
