I agree,

Seems that every now and then someone (and there are a lot of them) wonders why the RAFM have never restored it to its former glory. I am one of them.

Being an incurable Halifax-fanatic and having seen it many times at the RAFM I have also wondered why not restoring it to static display (on its wheels that is). The condition of it is very good (the red colour is only preservative not rust or corrosion)with the aluminium skin still bright.
Although there have been many people against this because of the everpresent replica vs restoration debate, this is the only way to have a true warbird (Tirpitz as you know)as well as being a very early Halifax variant.

In some issues of FlyPast it was mentioned that the only reason for not restoring it was because it wasn't a Lancaster and that they didn't want to spend a lot of money on a second rate bomber. Same goes actually for the IWM cockpitsection with a acessible Halifax cockpit while the prized Lancaster cockpit is sealed off with perspex.

The battle continues unfortunately, or not.........?

Cheers

Cees
