Old rumors must be confirmed. Angry post.

Some of you may not be aware of the this story.

The fact that this happened in 1999 and not 1949 means there is not a system in place to alert anyone interested in preserving vintage aircraft. I think it's paramount that something/anything be done to make sure that this will never happen again. One thing is for certain, there will not be modern day scrapping when the aircraft are gone.

It's my feeling that if there were more trust and disclosure that this may have been prevented. No body wants to give up a hot lead on a Mustang in a barn, but if the lead is left unconfirmed then, that Mustang could end up being destroyed at some point.

This forum is the perfect place to exchange the kind of leads that may have prevented the 20 plus T-6 from being scraped.

I am still angry about those Six's. I believe they were scraped in July 99' and I was there on a road trip in April 99', looking at as many airports as I could in North Florida for anything derelict.

Sorry for the ranting. It just gets me REALLY pissed off.

The Morotai story by Tony (thanks, as always the best) got me thinking about it again.

It just goes to show you if there is a rumor it can always be true. I truly believe it.

Patrick
