These are the SNJs that sat at Bronson Field forever, owned by the late Sam Goldman, surplus parts dealer. Lance Aircraft bought the Goldman stuff. They broke the airplanes down in to shippable components. They had been selling these projects off at 13k apiece (but you had to buy three). The components you see being crushed are the cowls etc, which Lance probably determined were not worth saving and they have warehouses full of them. Notice how neatly the center sections are stacked? Do they look like they are going to be scrapped. Not likely with the care that has been taken to stack them.
These airframes have not been owned by the Navy in many, many years. After all, the Navy (and USAFM) were trading flyable T-28s for T-6 hulks for museum display as late as the mid 1980s.
