So would have I, but I don't think it would have happened even if you were there. The owners of these aircraft have a huge number of cowling pieces, they probably have very little desire to given them away at scrap value, because then they couldn't sell you one of the many they already have in inventory.
As you probably know, Patrick, the hard part to find for the the T-6 is the center truss. Most of the other major (and minor) parts exist in Lance's warehouses. A few of the compound wing fairings are scarce...but I believe most everything else is available...
