In reply top Old rumors must be confirmed. Angry post. posted by t6gg on Fri Dec 21, 2001 11:13:47 AM

And the ironic thing is, u can bet your bottom dollar, that the people who originally owned these aircraft, tried to get them moved , to good homes, and no one was interested!

Mick and i, have made this point, over and over again. If you know the location of an aircraft, which you want... Then be honest with yourself..

Do you have the wherewithall, the means and the time, to recover it yourself? if you don't , then tell someone who can, and cut a deal with them. The aircraft ends up getting saved, and you get(if that's your motivation) some financial reward out of it.

I am working, pretty hard at the moment, with a couple of museums, to try and get airframes to them, which they desire. One of the museums, can give me exclusive recovery permission, for a certain aircraft, therefore, it's worth my time and effort, to keep everyone happy, as we all get what we want.

The ironic thing is, that there is almost certainly, a vintage forgotten warbird, within 50 miles of all of us, be it in the sea, buried, derelict, dumped or in a hangar, just forgotten. It's almost worth checking the FAA and CAA registers, to see what was never renewed, but has no evidnce of being sold.

Aircraft, are turning up in scrapyards all the time, and in a lot of cases, are forgotten about, until one day, theyu finally get their chance to become coke cans.

The aggravating thing is, there are people who use this forum, or shall I say, just lurk, hoping to get a hot tipon a recovery, but unwilling to contribute what they know. Certain of those people, also have ZIP chance of mounting their own recovery, but seem to think, that the value of that recovery will set them up for life.. Newsflash....it'won't.

But, if it is recovered, by someone you have co-operated with, then you will recieve some money, and a nice mention in the Aviation press, if that's what floats your boat.

So, how about it..... If you know where an aircraft is, then simply mention it on the forum. You don't have to give the GPS co-ordinates away, a simple "I know of a Spitfire in a Barn" will do.

Someone will contact you, and if ur paranoid, u can delete the serial, and the surrounding features from the piccie, and show them that, if they're serious, they will take it all the way. After all, there are other, very respected, capable gentlemen, who also choose to lurk here, who can fund that recovery, and who, are by and large, gentlemen of the "first water" or diamond geezers as we say here -lol

So, how about , as we requested before, a "I know where this is" series of posts, but NO fairy stories please..
