from what I read it was a free fire mission, pick your own targetsin other words.
now, considering biological and chemical weapons could be dispersed by even an old cropduster who is to say a spray bar or similar was not fitted?
I am not condoning the loss or anything but saying that considering how I know the australian airforce had a squadron of hudson bombers at least that were fitted to spray gas during WW2 then why not in this day and age use a fighter to survive the higher threat environment, even an old one like this, to do the same thing?
anyway, it was probably put there to do exactly what it did, soak up bomnbs better used on something else.
the pity is it is now a lost part of everyone's heritage but the iraqis in particular.
