I don't think that it?s possible for anyone to know with any certainty, that a particular airframe is not airworthy. Whilst I accept that it is unlikely, it?s not beyond the realms of possibility, however small that possibility, that the Sea Fury could have been flown!

As I say, its highly unlikely but what 'guarantee' can be offered to prove that it couldn?t fly?

Further, many dictatorships tend to be led by people who do not really have any grasp of reality and are considered to be unstable by Western standards so why would they not consider, having been under a trade embargo for a good number of year, using a 50-60 year old aircraft. In most cases, it would likely be a one way mission, would not have needed a huge range if used locally and any pilot that flew that particular aircraft, would do so willingly, knowing that he/she would become a martyr for their 'cause'!

Then there's the knowledge that Chemical weapons have been previously been used by this particular government albeit not delivered by Sea Fury but delivered none the less!

I hate the loss of any Warbird in any situation but when looking at the potential devastation caused by WMD (real or imagined) I think that the loss of the Sea Fury is regrettably but understandably.
