I think after the US the UK is lucky to have the most WW2 warbirds on any nation flying... People keep telling us we should be more European, but I cannot see many new aircraft coming to Europe and adding to our collective lot... France was quite a good market recently but due to Insurance costs they have been losing aircraft back to the States, Italy has legalisation problems and Germany 'historic issues'
I think it needs a paradime shift in thinking in Europe at all levels especially big government to make it more 'warbird friendly' but hey as we are all getting more appeasing here in Europe anyway (opps stop there Paul... bit of politics) I can't see that happening anytime soon.. The world WARbirds is not very PC friendly.. Especially to some who fail to understand history and who do not learn from it...
If you think about it the combined population of Europe outweights that of North America, and the total GDP must be about the same.. then we should have a heathly competition... And as any good capitalist knows competition is a good thing because invariably it brings new money and players into the scene.. But we don't for the reasons I list above and many others....
Oh.. I am not forgetting you Kiwi's and Aussies, I think per head of population you have the best warbird ratio of the lot...
