Handley Page Victor XH673

An article in this month's Flypast entitled "fragile five" details the five surviving HP Victor airframes and rightly points out the risk of their future non-preservation, given that they all sit outside in the lovely English weather.

Various people have complained on this board about the poor state of XH648 at Duxford, but it is XH673 at RAF Marham that concerns me. I had always thought that this was still MoD property and was earmarked for an eventual move to Hendon when extra space was available and was being kept as Gate Guard at Marham to ensure it's short-term preservation.

Who owns this Victor and what on earth do they intend to do with it?

It would be a great tragedy if this was scrapped and Hendon was never able to display the three V Bombers together.

Surely with the Milestones of Flight building and the Grahame White hangar being added at Hendon, enough space could be found for it.

Similarly, have i been wrong in assuming that the Javelin that acts as RAF Leeming's Gate Guard is also earmarked for Hendon? Will a Bucanneer eventually go there as well?

Thanks
Stuart
