Steve,
I couldn't agree more. That would be a very sensible thing to do. After all it is named: The RAF-Museum, not the Whatever-Type-We-Flew-Or-Captured-Or-Managed-To-Acquire-Museum.
All aircraft types ever used by the RAF could be put on display at Hendon. This does include of course the American types as well such as B-17, B-24, B-25, P-51 Mustang etc. perhaps painted in RAF-liveries there are so many to choose from that it won't be dull or boring. These types also played a very prominent part in the RAF, especially in the lesser known Burma theatre for instance.
So the P-47 and B-24 could move to Hendon while the German types are better suited for Cosford.
I am aware of the space problem but what is the use to put a German warbird (how interesting it may be)on display taking up the space of a genuine RAF-type (the Liberator or Thunderbolt for instance).
This is not criticism on behalf of the RAFM because they never can do anything good in the eyes of the so-called experts but it's just a suggestion.
What is criticism, is the fact that the Lancaster is displayed on a ridiculous stand (the budgieperch as hated so much by Lancman on the FP-forum). As well as the (here I go again) dismembered W1048 less perspex, parts of skinning, cowlings etc.
Cees
