Source for drawings (British)??

Hi all,

Following our discussions concering the Whirlwind drawings, I was wondering if there is a central indexsystem in Britain where one could find out where all surviving construction drawings of British aircraft are kept.

For instance, it is known that all construction drawings for the Halifax are kept at the IWM, the RAFM has thousands of Spitfire drawings. Copyzone have scanned drawings for Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane, Liberator and Fw-190 on CD-rom.But do the various sections of BAe, which used to be former companies have their own archives?

What happened to the drawings of aircraft made by Bristols, Hawkers, Armstrong Whitworth etc.
