"Our Warbird" - My thoughts

Ok.. I have kept quiet on this subject, but as the better half is out on a gals night out. I will tell you my thoughts..

C-47 - Too Big , Too Expensive and Too Common.. ok we could all go for a flight but, we might just as well hire G-DAKK from South Coast Airways for a day all to ourselves, Fill in the name of a local DC-3 oragnisation here in the US or Australia/NZ or Europe.. or wherever you are.. Ther is one.. Trust me

Also if you score $200 K then this just about buys you the bird.. Now are you going fit her out, pay for majors and minors and all that jazz..

What would I do...

Easy, I would buy those Hurricane bits from Ed Zalesky in Canada that are always being advertised at the back of Classic Wings. If fact they are on the web site at: http://classicwings.com/sales.htm

As the ad says $95,000 for enough parts for one airworthy and one static.. I also seem to recall them being 'dramatically reduced' so we may be able to pick em up cheaper!

Anyway.. Then I would ship em over to Hawker Restorations in the UK and get them to build me two aircraft. 1 flyer and 1 static to sell on. There must be some top notch Musuem that has the Hurricane missing from their collection that would love one!

Anyway, the difference is I would get Tony Ditheridge to work his magic and make us a Two Seat Trainer.. Then we could all get our flight in it..

not forgetting to check out all the photos.. You can even see photos of the static job they are currently doing for the USAF Museum in Ohio.. None of the big boy mags have even covered this...

Let is quite a bit of info on this site so I would spend some time with the mouse!

And with a Hawker Hurricane two seat trainer we get something unique!!!!

Oh and to get around any licencing issues re: commercial operations and the CAA. As we all 'own a part of her' then we can quite legit go for a flight in her!
