: You might think i'm an ass Brad and you can say what you l
: ike, as I can.....so you're an ass as well buddy.
I didn't say you were an ass, I said you were being an ass. It's a small distinction but it is a distinction. Perhaps I should have said rude instead. I apoligize.
:
: BTW, what you say about not being interested in the histor
: y behind these machines is nothing to be proud of Brad, ju
: st means we're going to have to take more notice of the ai
: rcraft that you work on from now on.
It's not that I don't care about the history behind the machines, it's the simple fact that I would rather have a flyable ME109 constructed from a Spanish example and five wrecked german ones, than no flying 109 at all. Am I for misleading people into thinking that it is the one Galland got his 23rd kill in, NO! Would I ever do that? NO! I am interested in seeing more WWII aircraft in the air, regardless of them being original or composite's built from pieces of twenty wrecks. I don't understand why people who claim to be warbird enthusiasts would rather a plane not fly than fly with the incorrect history and data plate attached.
And of course why wou
: ld you be so concerned that I had driven off the owners of
: the A36 so therefore they will not tell anything to anyon
: e now, when you have made it very clear that you couldn't
: give a stuff for the history, doesn't make sense Brad ?
My point here goes back to my original post, your rudeness drove away somebody that had information of interest to many people on this board, including yourself. I never said I was interested in it to begin with.
: I would say that it is more likely that they will not talk
: about the A36 as too many people were getting too near th
: e truth, and YOU and them are just using me as a convenien

For heaven's sake, we are not talking about who killed Kennedy or the location of Jimmy Hoffa's body! It's an airplane!
: I still cannot believe for one minute that I have such awe
: some power in my little typing finger as to scare off mult
: i-millionaires from an internet forum, you don't give them
: much credit for being able to look after themselves in th
: e big wide world if that is really what you believe Brad.
You give yourself way to much credit. Now I am just going to venture a guess that they weren't too scared of you. I would say that it is more likely that they didn't want to waste their time on the forum when they were treated rudely. I'll even go one further, I would say that they already know the history of the plane and couldn't care less if you know it.
: I would be seriously worried if I had to rely on people li
: ke you to defend me from the wolves, let them speak for th
: emselves Brad.
I am not defending them, and I am sure that they don't need me to defend them. They were just an example that stuck out in my mind regarding your attitude towards some people on the board. As for why they don't defend themselves, I don't see that they have anything to be defensive about.
: And just why are you here if you are not interested in the
: history, this place is much more than just the regular ri
: m-jobbing of certain warbird owners like the old forums us
: ed to be?
I never said I wasn't interested in the history of these planes. What I am not interested in is making sure that the data plates and original parts match the original airframe or it doesn't fly. I am for preserving these planes for future generations, telling the story of their significance and honoring the guys who flew them. I am also for flying these planes, regardless of having to change the originality to make it safer or more practical, and building examples of ones that don't exist from wreckage and parts. By the way, I do wish there were no rules on this board. I am for the truth, regardless of whose lawyers don't appreciate it. I enjoy hearing about the seedier side of this business.
:
: I take it from the way you are defending Mr Paul that you
: are a friend of his....or a wannabe friend ?
:
Sorry, I met him one time many years ago. He wouldn't know me if I bit him. Would I want to be his friend? Of course, I want to be friends with anybody that is dedicated to the future of warbirds. I do know one thing for a fact, and it applies to every warbird owner in the world. If you don't like what they are doing to their airplanes, write them a check and take it home with you. They will be quite happy for you to restore it in a manner you see fit.
: Anyway, look after yourself wherever you are going in the
: C17, come back safe y'hear !
For your good wishes, I am truly thankful. If you would like to continue this discussion, please add me to your email list. While I am gone I don't always get to check the message boards, but I usually get to check my email. Be patient, sometimes it takes a few days.
Best Regards
