What is happening to the rest of them.

I was looking at the work that had to be done to restore the B17E in the US the other day and whilst I know the B17s were pretty crushed I can't imagine that the glacier B17 s or the other P38s would be any worse. Given that it has already been done once and the techniques are now defined surely it is feesable to think about having another go at bringing several more back?

I know I am just a colonial chair jockey but this surely is a great source of relatively intact WWII aircraft that can't be repeated. I suppose the business case is pretty thin given the expense involved but given the cost of restoring some of the badly corroded and incomplete P38s that have recently come out of PNG etc I would have thought a relatively intact P38 albeit a bit crushed would be good value.

Worth a thought?
