Buried Lancasters in Canada (?)

Posted by Dan Jones on Sun Mar 16, 2003 09:01:53 PM

There is a story that has been kicking around my part of the world (Alberta, Canada) for a long time about a number of buried Lancasters. The story goes that sometime after the war, a number of Lancs were buried on the grounds of RCAF Penhold, Alberta (now the Red Deer Airport). They supposedly weren't buried "packed in grease and wrapped in burlap" but rather ingloriously with a bulldozer shoving them into the hole.

These Lancs are supposed to be buried under the runway. Now with reference to Chris Hinch's earlier post about what to do with a situation like this, anyone wanna have a go?
