Lots o f rumors persist about buried lancasters out west. In fact one of the old bcatp bases where lancs were scrapped was investigated years ago and some small parts were dug up including junction boxes and lots of burnt aluminum and wooden remains from the number of ansons scrapped also. Someone even found a pilots harness from a lanc by accidentally kicking it with their foot.
Always follow up on any leads of buried aircraft be they in canada.. uk or somewhere else. You may find out that the story is just that but it may also prove true as well who knows unless you find out right???
If the lancs were buried under what is now a runway then there will be very little if no chance of finding out what lies there unless they intend to rip up the runways...?
