Hi Dan,

I've heard the same rumour but was only told that the area had since been developed. If it is under a runway, chances of recovering anything will be slim to none. It may be worth your while to research it as often where someone says it is, and where it turns out to be, are miles apart. Unfortunatley alot of the historical documents for RCAF Penhold were thrown out when the base was shut down so locating records on the base is a bit difficult. There is a group, one of the flight schools who were doing a bit of research for the field but off hand I can't remember who. Also if you get the chance, check with the Red Deer Archives, they may have some files you could dig through.

Lots of the old air fields may still have some treasures laying around so it's worth while to look into. Some of the ones in BC area include buried B-24 parts, crated P-40 parts in a dump, a Hurricane buried under Highway 99 in the Vancouver area plus a few others.

Let us know if you find something!

Brian....
