I know that Spitfires for restoration are starting to dry
up, but surely there must be better examples than this aircraft. I know it says a ?view to a long term restoration? but this was a very public accident and I'm not sure if people are ready to see this particular aircraft again.
"I?m sure that the restoration will be treated with the respect it deserves, but it is one Spitfire that I think should be buried."

Phillip,

I am sure that this is not news, but most Spitfires were scrapped by 1960. It is now 2003, 40 years hence and there are no real projects out there that are waiting to be found that are in the condition of PL983. There are very few Spitfire projects to be had, and those out there command dollars. It is your right to buy it and bury it, exacting whatever revenge you need. Please make an offer and take it away from the rest of the world before she kills again. PS, there are other airworthy ones in your country, that while have not hurt anyone yet, may do so soon. Perhaps these can be grounded, buried and scrapped if they have any connection to similar aircraft that have had accidents. Why wait! Its just like that Halifax in Hendon. If people had your vision, that offending eyesore would be earning its keep as bedsprings and pots and pans, not remiding us of the cost and peril that is flying. You are right. Let's rid ourselves of this plauge of vintage aircraft!
