I have heard this story before, so there is probably truth to it. Anything goes on Russian airliners! Case in point:
About 7 or 8 years ago, I was flying on Aeroflot from Russia back to Frankfurt. While I was admiring the teeth marks on the cup I was given to drink out of, and the chips in my soup bowl, I heard alot of noise behind me. Suddenly, three chickens came flying up from the back cabin, followed by a grease covered mechanic with a hammer in hand. He caught the wayward chickens and smashed their heads in with the hammer. I am not sure, but I imagine that they were served on next flight.
On an unrelated story, I woke up on a Saudia airlines flight about five years ago. I looked up toward the flight deck and saw the door was open and the seats were empty. Then I noticed the entire flight crew was lined up in the isle way on their prayer rugs, praying like good muslims. I began praying like a good Christian about the same time!
