On an internal Air India flight from Delhi to Jaipur a few years back we were showered by water (condensation?) through the cabin roof. In places, it was like sitting under a shower. Cool, but worrying. A distinguished looked Indian gent in imaculate crisp white suit and "Nehru" hat demanded, and got, an umbrella! The stewardess gave out two or three to the most affected seats. Quite surreal! As we were on finals just above the piano keys a burst of power and we climbed away and circled. This was repeated three or four times before the Captain announced "There are tings on de runway!" Tings on the bloody runway? Craning to peer down I could just see the runway as we powered around in another tight juddering turn (what was it I had read about 737 rudder hinge failures during sustained tight turns??) and saw the tings the captain had spoken of...elephants! Two more near touch-and-go's finally frighted the elephants ..but probably not as much as me! Meanwhile, the cascade through the cabin roof continued to rain down on the forest of umbrellas.
