: There is a single well "pranged" F3A still lingering aroun
: d the northern United States. It will take an extreme eff
: ort to get it anywhere near flyable anytime soon, though I
: believe it is restorable.
:
: There was rumor of a second Brewster Corsair at the bottom
: of an obscure fresh water lake, but that's complete rumor
: . Even if it were true, ownership would fall to the US Na
: vy and their 'active abandonment' policy means it would mo
: st likely remain there forever.
:
: I remember a rumor years back via a Frenchman about a repo
: rted AU-1 wrecksite in the regions near Vietnam, but nothi
: ng ever became of it. Alsom there's an F4U-7 at the USS
: Alabama Memorial Park masquerading as a Marine AU-1. Othe
: r than that, there are no actual AU-1's left in known exis
: tence.
I though the -7 variant was only produced for the French Navy? Was the Alabama Mem Park aircraft acquired from France.
