Hello Steve,

As far as I know they have no plans to completely cover the airframe with fabric. This way they will show off the geodetic construction. The props will also remain bent.

During the recovery the centrefuselage-section of N2980 was badly damaged and unusable for the restoration (because it had to carry the load of the completed airframe). They were lucky however when a complete centrefuselage was found in use as a greenhouse (it was covered with plastic). This was also reported in FlyPast then.

It seems that they have incorporated the newfound fuselagecentre-section into the restored airframe of N2980 and possibly restored the original remains of its centrefuselage to static display alongside (?).

While we are on the subject:

Years ago a local Yorkshire recovery group discovered the very substantial wreck of a Wellington near Braemar. As ever this was also reported in FP. Photo's showing the rear fuselage being complete as well as the wings with nacelles etc. This rear fuselage is now on display at the Wellington Gallery at Moreton-in-the-Marsh, but what happened to the wings????? Anyone?

I just do not understand why such a substantial wreck is again scattered all over the country. There are not that many Wimpy's.

Cheers

Cees
