Does that go for all WWII wrecks too? What if the aircraft is the last Hampden and during preflight testing it falls off its jacks during a gear swing and kills someone. Do we scrap the recalcitrant aircraft then? Does killing a mechanic instead of a pilot allow the airplane to be on probation? I believe there are many recovered and yet to be recovered wrecks that are "responsible" for many deaths. Should we avenge those too? BM597 participated in the death and destruction of a priceless 109 and pilot or two. Do you wish this one to be destroyed as the root cause?

Make no mistake, these aircraft beautiful as they are were designed to destroy other aircraft much like themselves. Their performance and physical perfection make them desirable today. The tragic death of the owner of TE566 came after he had acheived his dream of owning and flying his own Spitfire. How sad it would be for his progeny to look back 50 years from now and know that well meaning aircraft "enthusiast enforcers" destroyed all memory of TE566 to protect us all from the spectre of his death.
The parts of TE566 are able to live on in a further rebuild. The right wing, jigged, dissasembled and reworked will fly again, as will pieces of the left, the tail ect. It is true people are irreplaceable. But their dreams can live on, and with time, money and energy, can continue to inspire others...
