I find it amazing that the people posting about the fate of TE 566 as to wether it should or could be re-built are obviuosly not aware of what can and can't be be rebuilt. No matter what happens in any re-build throughout this industry we will never get away from the "what do you call original debate" and I doubt if anybody will come out with a definitive answer on that subject.
As to wether TE 566 can be rebuilt, of course it can, yes it will be a new airframe as you armchair pilots and engineers would call it but it will be still TE 566 by the simple definition that it has been re-built IE it has been restored to it's original condition. Here in the UK we have some of the best engineers in the world and may I remind people it's us not the owners or the pilots that say wether an aircraft is airworthy and I can assure you that as we tell our boss we will not build an aircraft that will kill him. So when we remove an aircraft from a purpose built jig then I can assure you that the said aircraft is better than new. As to aviation authorities ie FAA and CAA they can cause us enough headaches without the unknowing wanting them to intervene when an aircraft suffers a mishap wether fatal or not as to if it should be rebuilt, in the main they leave it to us the engineers, don't forget that is why we have licenced engineers for.
