Regulation? Yikes!

Karen,
If someone spent two years of research and thousands of dollars to determine the location of the wreck of a missing airman so that he/she might be buried properly and with dignity, are you saying that this person deserves no compensation (or at least repayment of expenses) for their effort?
If a civilian aircraft crashes, the remains belong either to the family or to the insurance company. How does this stand your "flying coffin" test? Is this person's life worthy of any less consideration because the death did not occur in combat or during wartime?
Who would you recommend to be the regulating authority? I can't think of a more corrupt and unethical bunch then a group of politicians!
I know that this is a sensitive subject to you, but I think we need to ask the hard questions to make sure we come up with solutions that are fair and reasonable in an ethical and commercial sense.
I'm looking forward to your comments. This is an interesting and very important subject. I can't put myself in your shoes because my family members straddled the age group for WW2, so they were unable to see combat (or combat losses).
Thanks,
Brandon
: David,
:
: You bring up many good points. After my post this mor
: ning, I gave some thought to what do I feel would be the p
: roper, or ideal solution.
:
: I think my main objection to all this, is the idea of
: someone making a "profit" from the death of others. In my
: opinion, If a plane is recovered with human remains the fo
: llowing should occur: 1) Service members should be removed
: , ideally with witnesses present, and given a proper funer
: al. 2) A determination of the potential future airworthine
: ss of the plane should be made. 3) If it is deemed rebuild
: able, this should by all means be considered. 4) IF it is
: deemed unairworthy, it should be donated to a museum, or g
: iven to the family, or very well documented, i.e., picture
: s, video, etc..., and then destroyed.
:
: For these things to occur, however, there has to be st
: rict regulation. I take less issue with a plane that could
: be rebuilt, because I feel by rebuilding it you are honor
: ing the memories of those lost. there is obviously no simp
: le answer to any of these questions, but it would be nice
: to see a bit of sanity, and common sense.
:
: These are of course just my opinions...
