With all due respect to you, I am sorry that you feel bored with the subject.

Using your analogy, the Grand Champion Award can only be given to documented aircraft. So if you were not the lucky few that purchased an aircraft as surplus after wars' end, or from a scrap yard, then your aircraft is not considered a restoration by the FAA and thereby the EAA for their award.

The EAA does, however, have a "replica" award for consolation; hence my prior thought with the EAA.

Unless, you want to "buy" the documentation for Austrailia, for your new "restored" P-51. Have $10,000.00 anyone. The lucky man who is selling these, bought the paper from another and is using them for the serial numbers, when the US gave Austraila 500 or so P-51's in the war under lend-lease.

Lets call it what it is,it appears that the lucky few sill continue to have their new-old aircraft remain restorations, the rest of us battle the manure, just to follow our own little dreams. Not everyone was in the right place at the right time.

As for the damaged parts, I too, have recovered parts that I am using for templates, where do you want to draw the line at templates? Whatever is available? Or a percentage of the plane? Getting everyone to agree on this is like have 100% of the population to vote in the genreal election.

I feel that is it reasonable to use ALL availabe means to faithfully restore and or rebuild aircraft. I do not need to line someones greety pockets to play the game at Oshkosh. It is only to bad that people can not even be honest about this.

I wonder how long it will take Glamorous Glen III to return in front of the FAA with the correct paperwork, and inturn be another restored aircraft with another name.

While we may agree on disagreeing, I find it interesting that the "haves" do not wish the "have-nots" there ado. It appears that the "haves" want to us the FAA for its crutch. We all know the government is never wrong or short sided; especally the Navy.
