Hi All,
With the anniversary of D-Day just a few days away, I have been thinking about something that has always puzzled me.
Why weren't the various Allied Air Forces able to destroy the German Bunkers along the beaches which were used for the invasion?
I have watched "The Longest Day", "Saving Private Ryan", "Band Of Brothers", and more WWII programs on various History Channels, then I care to count. Yet none of them adequately addresses this.
My Dad thought it was a combination of weather, and the element of surprise. I have my own theories, but as so many of you are more knowledgeable then I am, I would rather hear from you.........
