..the old 'inverted Merlin' question again

We debated over this one a while back but I started thinking about the likelihood of such a conversion. If it was inverted would you need to have scavenge pumps on the rocker covers or inside? and would the oil galleries be up to the task of having the oil pushed in the opposite direction than when the engine is mounted normally. This stems from a conversation I had with someone last week about the phenominal cost of getting a DB running and keeping it that way. Also is it true that the DB 600 series had oil starvation problems throughout their usage? As for Merlins, seeing as the carb intake is about halfway up the rear of the engine does anyone share my thoughts of being able to mount an intake a la 109 & 190D and route it up over the supercharger and into the intake? Any comments gladly accepted.
Tom ;) (swiftly searching for a 'cheap' Buchon! lol...)
