...... to the best of my knowledge there were scavenge pumps only in the rocker covers of the DB's. Oil from the crankcase drained by gravity to the rockercovers. I believe that the oil was returned via external tubing to the oiltank. In an up-right engine it?s the other way around, drain by gravity from the rocker covers and by scavenge pump(s) from the crankcase to the oiltank.
I missed the bit about "the oil being pushed in the opposite direction" in Your previous post; the lubrication system doesn?t have a clue if the engine is up-right or inverted. Normal oil pressure takes the oil to where it should go. Theoretically there is lower pressure above the outlet of the oilpump and higher pressure below, due to the weight of the oil but, it?s neglectable.
