Mick - The Lincoln was bought by Doug for the grand sum of ?8,500 plus the percentage that Phillips added as commission (15% probably) . To acquire four Merlin's and the undercarriage parts he required for that price was amazingly cheap ! Several years later the machine was offered to a small museum in the U.K for a small sum but they declined - so we now have the ridiculous spectacle of
a Lincoln rotting to nothing.
Regards Kermit's aircraft - what he acquired was a complete Lancaster. So basically it is G-BCOH with the rear
fuselage of KB994 fitted which was brought into the U.K as a
spares source. The is no evidence to believe that the cockpit of Lancaster TW911 also went to Florida - she was noted a few years ago at Bournemouth and I feel that it's in a container at North Weald under the control of the Arnold family.
