Mick,

Interesting idea. There are very substantial (including wings and tail) remains of that arctic York in Canada.
This could be a very good candidate to breathe some life into these Lanc/Linc sections. And of course there are more sections of Lanc te be found in Canada. Don't forget to convert left over sections into a Manchester.

Considering recovering substantial remains in isolated places. Again the problem would be money and logistics. Americans seem to be prepared to go to Greenland to recover B-17's, a B-29(well almost) and a P-38 and restore them to incredible condition (you should see the progress on My Gal Sal).

The Canadians recovered the Halifax from Norway, while the RAF Sub Aqua club is waiting until someone will present them with a fully intact Stirling (they have contacted several groups in Holland hoping that we knew where a complete example would be).

It is up to individuals like Elliott or others (not only) on this board to start a project to bring back another example of a British warbird or even start reconstructing the extinct ones.

Just my thoughts (not to offend anyone of course)

Cees
