Surviving piston engines

Hi all,

I was wondering what happend to the surviving engines listing which Paul Coggan was working on some time ago. What I am curious about is how many engines are still surviving nowadays, especially since the topic about the Napier Sabre recently.

To start things off we have the following engines on display/in storage in our museum:

Rolls Royce Merlin (various marks X/XX/22/28/46): 20+
Rolls Royce Vulture: 1 (recovered from the North Sea, plus parts from two others from Manchester L7518)
Napier Sabre: 1 (recovered from the North Sea)
Daimler Benz (601/603/605): 4
Junkers Jumo 211 : 2 (both from North Sea)
Bristol Hercules: 2 (+ 1 scrap)
Bristol Pegasus: 4
Pratt & Whitney R1830: 1
Wright Cyclone R1820 : 1 (+ 1 scrap)
Allison V-1710: 1 (Mustang, came from the North Sea)
BMW 801: 1 (North Sea)

This is just a summary of our engines I can think of at the moment. There are many more in the collections of the other members of the Dutch Federation of Aviation Archeology scattered around our country. For instance there are at least two more Vultures extant in good condition, several more Daimler Benz 601/603/605, Wright R1820's (3 from the Swiss B-17 which was recovered from Lake Zug). I also saw a Sabre in good condition which was probably recovered by the Dutch Air Force.

The list could go on.

how about you?

Cheers

Cees
