: In our case, the plane Dean was killed in, has nothing
: but negative connected to it. However, had he been killed
: in battle, I think we would feel differently. There was n
: othing noble or heroic in the way he died. It was a largel
: y preventable accident.

I think that regardless of the circumstances of his passing the fact that he passed while serving his country is what makes him honorable. Nobody is perfect and accidents happen. But I believe that the minute the pilot straps himself in he is risking his life. Not for the thrill of it, but because it is is duty. Now don't get me wrong, I think that some of the pilots willingness to do this is probably based in the thrill and fun of it but when it comes down to it it's his duty.

If he dies during the undertaking of this duty he should be honored in one form or another.

One of my future goals is to create a section devoted to transport and bomber crews. Two groups that I think are sadly unrepresented in history. As soon as I get enough information I will do this.

I guess my point is that the circumstances don't matter, if a person dies in military service they should be honored.
