I am passionate about remembering the heroes and heroines of the war. Often when I hear some idiot bemoaning or being rude about the older generations or some twonk burning our respective countries flags or complaining about our foreign policy, I smile, because that is what our fathers and grandfathers fought for.
As Mike says, it was all the services. In the UK (as well as US)the population also made a huge war effort. In the UK, some 65,000 civillians died.
