Hold on Mick as my brain machetes through the mists of time!!! I think that it came from an Aerojumble back in the late 1980's. The chap had some bits from a couple of crashed aircraft, but this plate caught my eye due to the CBAF and number. I have an extensive (or do I mean expensive?!) collection of plates from aircraft and wanted a Spitty makers plate. This although only like a Mod plate in design seemed to fit the bill! One of the Spits the chap had parts from was Sqn Ldr Roy Marples Mk IX lost on 26th April 1944....I shall see if I can find that ones tail number and maybe we can work backwards?!

I have a transfer type makers plate that was fitted to K9844, from Frame 5....but it is not very readable now.

Regards and any help appreciated

Tony
