Hello Paul,
As far as I know most of the modern day aircraft factories already use this kind of machinery.
The Halifax instrumentpanel that I am building is an example. A friend of mine works in the commercial avaiation business.
I gave him the drawing, the measurements of which he fed into a computer programme. A computer guided machine uses this information to punch out the complete panel. All I have to do is to clean up the edges. Marvellous stuff.
