copied fom a post on Hyperscale - make of it what you will.....

"I guess I can break this news now, the MAPS Air Museum of Akron/Canton, Ohio has been donated a large collection of aircraft from the Estate of Lewis Meyers of Arizona. Included in this donation is a P-38, a P-40, a L-5, a PT-22, a Culver drone, and a BREWSTER BUFFALO! The planes are supposed to have been stored in Arizona since not long after the war. The planes are to arrive at the Museum by late Spring.

Now the issue... This donation was arrange by a friend of Mr. Meyers who is also a friend of the Museum. He is the only person who has seen the planes. Also, none of these planes are known survivors and no one I've talked to in the Warbird community has ever heard of Mr. Meyers. My own cynic view is that you could not hid a collection like this from everyone, but stranger things have happened. Until someone shows me photos I won't believe it. You know if it is too good to be true it usually is.

The Buffalo is supposed to be ex-Finish, but not the plane pulled out of the lake in Russia. None of the planes are airworthy, but they are said to be easily restored.

One I can either get photos to confirm this donation, or deny it as a hoax I will do so.

Jim Bates"
