Simon,

I just hadn't made it over here yet. I too am interested in what anyone can contribute. The Museum seems short of answers and one member who ventured out to Arizona was not given access to inspect the planes. I'm still thinking it is too good to be true, but who knows.

Btw, the Museum is convinced that these planes are showing up.

: "I guess I can break this news now, the MAPS Air Museum of
: Akron/Canton, Ohio has been donated a large collection of
: aircraft from the Estate of Lewis Meyers of Arizona. Incl
: uded in this donation is a P-38, a P-40, a L-5, a PT-22, a
: Culver drone, and a BREWSTER BUFFALO! The planes are supp
: osed to have been stored in Arizona since not long after t
: he war. The planes are to arrive at the Museum by late Spr

:
: Now the issue... This donation was arrange by a friend of
: Mr. Meyers who is also a friend of the Museum. He is the o
: nly person who has seen the planes. Also, none of these pl
: anes are known survivors and no one I've talked to in the
: Warbird community has ever heard of Mr. Meyers. My own cyn
: ic view is that you could not hid a collection like this f
: rom everyone, but stranger things have happened. Until som
: eone shows me photos I won't believe it. You know if it is
: too good to be true it usually is.
:
: The Buffalo is supposed to be ex-Finish, but not the plane
: pulled out of the lake in Russia. None of the planes are
: airworthy, but they are said to be easily restored.
:
: One I can either get photos to confirm this donation, or d
: eny it as a hoax I will do so.
