Reconstruction project

Hi all,

Suppose I had won the lottery and money was no longer a problem and (obviously) I wanted to get myself a Halifax. But not a static one but a flyer. There are two possibilities:

1. Finding a submerged reasonably complete airframe in a lake somewhere and have her rebuild like NA337 but to airworthy standards.

2. As the drawings are available having British Aeropspace to build a completly new airframe to exact type specifications.

The second option raises the question what engines to use. As the Hercules engine situation (airworthy ones) is very difficult (remember the TFC Beau) Rolls-Royce Merlins could be used making it a Mk II or V (depending on the undercarriage, another problem).

Suppose either of the two options has been accomplished, would the CAA grant a certificate of airworthyness in the same fashion as a recently restored Spitfire of Mustang or would that be a no-go situation.

OK, there are several questions but what are your views, Can it be done??????

Fire away

Cees
