In reply top Sea Fury in Iraq...bites the dust :( posted by Randy Haskin on Sun Dec 21, 2003 09:37:07 PM

...while it saddens me that a Sea Fury and a Hunter has been lost, how would the public feel, if either of these airframes had been airworthy and then used to dispense WMD.

To take this possibility to it logical ending, what would the public reaction have been then, having learnt that the USAF or RAF had seen the aircraft but as the airframe were no longer 'front-line', it was decided to leave alone?

However, as for Jim's outburst, I can fully understand this point of view, as I feel that many would have a similar reaction but when we take into consideration, the effects that WMD could have on our Soldiers in the field or when looking at the wider picture, our Mothers/Fathers, Brothers/Sisters and Sons and Daughters, I feel that the destruction of these airframes can only be supported, however rare the airframe.

Just my tuppence worth,

Tony
