Diemert P-40? WTF?

I'm watching a show about aviation on the CBC in French and they just showed ole Diemert with his Defender (humbly serialed RL 208!!! LOL). Outside was a P-40, AVG markings. It looked like it had Lancaster cowlings (!!) instead of what you'd found on P-40s. Round spinner, paddle blades like a Lanc III and the rest associated with the bomber.

I'm sure the other French Canucks are watching the same right now, but can anyone enlighten me about that P-40?

Oh yeah, they showed the Pond Racer flying earlier in the show, and Rare Bear had a 4-bladed prop and was reddish, not purple, so it might be old...
