In a similar vein...How about resurrecting the Wellington??

All--Another idea to stir the pot:

A few years ago there was an unfortunate incident at one of the UK's "enthusiast" museums. Some dull-thud firebug set an aircraft alight that had been on outdoor display. It was either a Viking or a Valletta (the latter, I think); the fuselage was almost totally destroyed. I saw a photo of the sad remains...and had a sudden idea.

As Hastings wings are to the Halifax, my understanding is that so are Viking wings to the Wellington (in external shape, at least). That photo, sad as it was, made me think: what about replicating a late-mark Wellington fuselage to go between the wings of this ruined Valletta? Or, more broadly, of using Viking/Valletta mainplanes from whatever source as a starting point for a (perhaps flyable) Wellington re-creation?

(BTW I think that the torched Valletta was eventually resurrected using a salvaged fuselage from another example. No doubt a number of WIXers will have the story in much more complete form...)

What think you?
