The Czechs did that back in the 70's for a film - built a wooden framework around an cut down Li-2 fuselage IIRC.it was the fabric covered as per original. Wing was too low on the fuselage but otherwise looked quite good - it had vertical slots in the fuselage for propeller clearance

it was armed with MG17s I think
