Working on putting up a site on the history of the German aircraft that were in Canada during WWII and shortly thereafter. While working on the history of Me109 Wrk 1190 [Currently at Duxford] I was given a series of pictures of this aircraft while it was in Canada and rescued in 1963.
In this collection of pictures was a photo of another Me109 that was in the US during the War and later purchased by a "war relic collector" living in the upper eastern US. He apparently couldn't find a buyer and the aircraft was scrapped for $100 in 1948.
It was painted in the same scheme as the Me109 Wrk 1190 as the photo indicates. Was wondering if anyone has any clue & what the Wrk no. is for this aircraft?
I will try and get the photo and or more clues on another thread on Tuesday.
Lee
