There is a lot of interest in Mosquito restoration given several projects in the pipeline at present in Canada, the US and the UK.
Considerable attention is being paid to the New build projects in New Zealand and also to a lesser extent the DH Hornet projects/proposals in various peoples minds.
There is no doubt that this interest is likely at some time in the future to yield progress but it seems to me that a lot of potential is being lost because of the technically daunting nature of the construction given that a lot of Warbird shops are based on more conventional metal construction.
I can't really see that this is much more than people not wanting to "step outside the box' because they are more comfortable with metal work or there is a perception that the skill to do "wooden wonders" are no longer available.
I am interested in peoples views about this because I would really like to see a little more activity focused in this area. The DH twins are obviously a very dramatic type to see in the air especially the Hornet and the skills are obviously there so what is the root cause of the problem - is it technical , a lack of worldwide cooperation or what ?
Please provide your views . This post should not be seen as a criticism of any project or group as I think tremendous work is being done, just a genuine basis for discussion
