Taras Lysennko of A&T Recoveries spent an extensive amount of time researching and recovering the wrecks of Lake Michigan. His list of confirmed aircraft types located in the lake includes the following types:
TBF
TBM
SBD-1
SBD-5
FM & F4F
SB2U
F4U
F6F
SNJ
Quite an impressive list! Note that the oldest known intact Corsair on Earth is one of the planes resting on the bottom. The US Navy in true form has managed (again) to let the red tape pile up on this recovery - and so it sits.
I'm guessing that quite a few of the planes in the lake may be SNJ's since these were the types most likely to be flown by novice pilots during carrier trials.
