Another thought came to mind on this, and it is directly related to Warbirds. Over the last few years, private companies have made crankshafts, pistons, cylinders and propeller blades for the T-6/R-1340. The market is bigger because these engines are also used by dusters but the point is, the capability is there as long as the market is. I think we will see the same thing happen with Merlins over the next few years as there is a decent sized market. As for DB's? I reckon a fairy Godfather is needed.
